Sivakumar thus owns three-and-a-half acres of land and a house in Perumanallur and Sultanpet in Coimbatore. Sivakumar who had gotten married a few years ago, divorced his wife and lived alone.

Amidst this, his sister Ambika's family had been frequently having problems with Sivakumar and was asking him to hand over the property that their father had bequeathed them.

On January 25, Sivakumar had gone to his friend Vadivel's house in Sedapalayam area but was forcibly abducted in a car with his mouth covered with a rope.
