Collector flags off campaign vehicle under Kalaignar's All-village integrated Agriculture Development Programme

District Collector Sameeran flagged off campaign vehicles under Kalaignar's All-village integrated Agriculture Development Programme, which was organized by the Department of Agricultural Engineering at the Collectorate.


Coimbatore: With an aim to create a self-sufficient village for overall agricultural development, Chief Minister M K Stalin had launched Kalaignar's All-Village Integrated Agriculture Development Scheme in May last. In five years, plans were drawn up to implement the scheme in about 12,525 gram panchayats in Tamil Nadu.

The Programme would be implemented in all 12,525 village panchayats across the State for five years and would be jointly implemented by the Agriculture Department in close coordination with the Rural Development Department.

The main tenets for the programme includes improving rural agriculture infrastructure, value added marketing, construction of farm ponds through Rural Development department, disbursement of crop loans through cooperative societies.

A number of projects, including desilting of irrigation waterways, for the development of rural economy, will also be taken up under the flagship scheme of the Tamil Nadu Government will also be taken up.

As the year 2023 has been declared as the International Year of Millets, special awareness programmes in this regard are being conducted by the Government at various places.



The campaign vehicles will create awareness among farmers and promote the cultivation of millets in the Madukkarai and Periyanaickenpalayam blocks on behalf of the Food and Nutrition Programme of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare.



These vehicles, will carry display boards about millet crops and their benefits.

Assistant Collector Sowmya, Joint Director of Agriculture Muthulakshmi, Deputy Director of Agriculture Tamilselvi, Krishnaveni, Perumal Swamy and other officials were present on the occasion.
