Two migrant labourers killed in hit-and-run accident by a speeding car near Malumichampatti

Two migrant labourers from the northern state of Bihar, who were walking on the road after buying groceries were killed when an unidentified car hit them near Malumichampatti. The car then sped away with out stopping.


Coimbatore: Avdhesh Kumar (24) of Purnea in Bihar, and his friend Nitish Kumar (24) were working in a private sandal manufacturing company in Malumichampatti in Coimbatore.

The twosome, who were staying in a room owned by the company had gone to Malumichampatti last night along with their colleagues to buy groceries and they started walking back to the room, when a speeding car hit Avdhesh Kumar and Nitish Kumar, who were walking on the road, on the Malumichampatti-Othakkalmandapam road.

The two seriously injured migrant workers were rescued by friends, who accompanied them sent to the Coimbatore government medical college hospital in an ambulance, but were declared brought dead by the doctors there.



Their bodies were later sent for post-mortem. Following this, the Chettipalayam police have registered a case and are investigating.

The Police are scrutinizing CCTV footage installed at a distance of 200 metres from the accident site, and are on the lookout for the miscreants, who fled after causing the accident.
