Jewellery shop owner arrested for allegedly duping jewellery manufacturer near Selvapuram in Coimbatore

Two months ago, Khaja Hussain, a gold jewellery manufacturer had distributed 3.306 kg of gold jewellery worth Rs. 1.20 crore to Vijayakumar, a jewellery shop owner. Vijayakumar and his wife reportedly have not paid for nor returned the gold jewellery. Hence, Khaja Hussain lodged a complaint with the Variety Hall police station in this regard.


Coimbatore: Khaja Hussain, a native of Selvapuram in Coimbatore district runs a gold jewellery manufacturing workshop in Sukrawarpet area and is in the business of making and distributing ornaments to jewellery shops.

R G Vijayakumar, a resident of Veedhi and his wife Vijayakumari run a jewellery shop and have been in business with Khaja Hussain for gold orders. Two months ago, Khaja Hussain had distributed 3.306 kg of gold jewellery worth Rs. 1.20 crore to Vijayakumar but Vijayakumar is said to have delayed in paying for the jewellery.

The couple reportedly have not paid for nor returned the gold jewellery. Hence, Khaja Hussain lodged a complaint with the Variety Hall police station in this regard. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against Vijayakumar and his wife under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Thereafter, the police arrested Vijayakumar and sent him to jail.
