Renovation of runway at Coimbatore airport: All night-time flight services have been cancelled till December

As the runway renovation work of Coimbatore airport is in progress, All midnight flights, including Coimbatore-Goa, which were scheduled to start this month, have been cancelled till the end of December.


Coimbatore: Generally, runways at all airports are renovated once in 10 years. Similarly, the renovation work of runways at Coimbatore airport is currently in progress.

Due to this, flights have been banned from 10 pm to 6 am at Coimbatore airport. The ban on night service will continue till the end of December.

Coimbatore airport officials said, “The restoration work of the runway at Coimbatore airport is scheduled to be completed by the end of December and is progressing at a rapid pace.

Private airlines had planned to start some flights during the midnight and early morning hours, including Coimbatore-Goa, from this month. The announcements were made and ticket booking for some of the services has also started.

As runway renovation work at the airport will continue, the ban imposed on flight services during midnight and early morning hours will continue till the end of December.

Officials said that midnight flights and early morning flights will resume at Coimbatore airport from January onwards if the work is completed as planned.

Earlier, it was announced that the midnight flight services between Coimbatore and Goa will resume from October 30. It is to be noted that the cancellation of the runway for 2 months due to renovation works has caused disappointment among the passengers.
