Toilets lying closed without maintenance in Kempatty Colony - Makkal Needhi Maiam petitions Coimbatore Corpn Commissioner and Mayor

Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) leader Dr Kamal Haasan, who recently met the people of Coimbatore South constituency, came to know that around 800 families living behind the Uppu Mandi in the 80th ward Kempatti colony area do not have proper toilet facility and dr Kamal Haasan has come forward to construct the toilet facility at his own cost.


Coimbatore: Several hundred families live behind Uppu Mandi in Kempatti Colony, Ward 80, Coimbatore. They do not have adequate toilet facilities. The majority of the recipients use the public toilet in the salt mandi, many of which remain closed without maintenance.

Therefore, MNM insisted that “the public toilet should be repaired in a good manner so that it can be used by all the public. Moreover, our party leader R. Kamal Haasan is ready to construct a public toilet through his charitable trust to address the shortage of toilets. We request you to allot a plot of land for the benefit of the public for the construction of a good toilet in the area within the rules of your government.”

A petition was submitted to the Mayor and Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation under the leadership of Makkal Needhi Maiam district secretary Prabhu. He was accompanied by office-bearers Tajuddin, Bhupathiraja, Krishnamoorthy, Manikandan and Chakravarthy.
