Coimbatore District Commissioner inspects cleanliness drive in North Zone areas

Coimbatore Municipal Corporation Commissioner M. Prathap personally inspected the cleanliness drive in Peelamedu and Bharathi Colonies in Coimbatore and instructed the officials.


Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner M. Prathap has instructed officials to remove the debris, vegetation and blockages in the storm water drains in Peelamedu, Bharathi Colony area under ward no.27 of north zone and desilt them immediately and put them to use immediately, rehabilitate the damaged areas and construct storm water drains wherever necessary.



Inspecting the work of segregation and collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste by municipal corporation safai karamcharis in the area, he instructed the sanitation workers to create awareness among the public in the area to classify the garbage as biodegradable garbage and 'non-biodegradable waste'.



He inspected the house-to-house activities of corporation mosquito control workers in Bharathi Colony area of Peelamedu, where they were pouring abate into the tanks, removing unnecessary items and whether there were mosquito larvae in the water stored by the public.



The Corporation Commissioner also directed the engineers to inspect the unused micro compost centre in Vilankurichi area and purchase the required machinery and put it to use immediately.



Councillors Chitra Vellingiri, Ambika Dhanapal, Assistant Commissioner Mohanasundari, Assistant Executive Engineer Senthil Bhaskar, Assistant Town Planning Officer Vimala, Health Officer Radhakrishnan, Assistant Engineers Jyothi Vinayagam, NASSAR and corporation officials were present during the inspection.
