2 arrested on charges of illegal liquor sale at restaurants in city's Eachanari and Arisipalayam areas

The police arrested two persons involved in the illegal sale of liquor at restaurants in Eachanari and Arisipalayam areas under Madukkarai police station limits and seized 31 liquor bottles from their possession.



Coimbatore: On receiving a tip-off that liquor was being sold illegally at a restaurant on the Eachanari bypass road in Coimbatore district, a police team led by the Madukkarai Police Inspector, Vairam conducted a raid at the restaurant on Monday night. During the raid, liquor bottles that were illegally kept for sale in the restaurant were found.

Following this, the police seized eight bottles of liquor kept for sale there and arrested Anburaj, a native of Madurai who was involved in the illegal sale of liquor.

Similarly, the police raided a restaurant in Arisipalayam area and seized 23 liquor bottles which were illegally kept for sale. Rajkumar, a native of Sivagangai district was arrested for selling liquor. Following this, a case has been registered against both men who were arrested and investigation is underway.
