Son wrongly booked in Ganja case: Parents petition Coimbatore Police Commissioner.

Senthil Kumar, the father of Moses, has claimed that his son has no connection with the main accused, and his name has been erroneously included in the FIR and appealed to the police authorities to remove it.



Coimbatore: The parents of Moses, a youth, booked in the “Ganja chocolate” case residing in Ganesh Nagar in Rathinapuri have petitioned the City Police Commissioner, Balakrishnan to remove the name of their son from the FIR, alleging that he was wrongly booked in the case.

On Saturday, the city police arrested and seized 20.5 kg of chocolates infused with Ganja from K. Balaji, a 58- year old man, a resident of Arivoli Nagar here. A police team headed by Rathinapuri Sub-inspector, H. Ramesh Kannappan apprehended him from Kannappa Nagar in Sanganoor road during a vehicle check.

Following investigation, the Police also booked cases on 15 others including the gang leader style Suresh, suspected to be the accomplices of K. Balaji, the main accused.

Meanwhile, Senthil Kumar, the father of Moses stated in his petition that he was away with his family members to Thoothukudi district when the news of his son’s alleged involvement in the racket reached him on August 1.



Senthil Kumar claimed that Moses, who is working as a painter has no relationship with the main accused, and his name has been erroneously included in the FIR and appealed to the police authorities to remove it.

It may be noted that parents of 7 others have also claimed of their sons being wrongly linked in the case.

The sensational arrest of the main accused in the "Ganja Chocolate" case hogged the headlines recently, and police have slapped cases under various sections of the IPC including sections 271 (adulteration of food or drink intended for sale)273, ( sale of noxious food or drink) 378 (causing hurt by means of poison) and a few sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act.
