Health officials monitor Walayar border for cases of monkeypox

Meanwhile, the absence of police and revenue officials to stop vehicles on the Coimbatore-Tamil Nadu border at Walayar has made checking difficult.

Coimbatore: Even as monkeypox cases have been detected in Kerala, health officials are inspecting the Walayar border in Coimbatore. Two health inspectors have been stationed on the border to detect symptoms of monkeypox by checking those crossing the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border at Walayar.

However, due to the absence of police and revenue officials, stopping and checking all incoming vehicles has not been possible, as well as most vehicles from Kerala speed through on the highway without stoppiing.
