The CCMC Commissioner enquired with the public if there were proper street lights and adequate water supply.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner, M Prathap inspected the sanitation works in Nanjundapuram area under Ward No. 62 of Coimbatore Corporation's Central Zone.
The CCMC Commissioner made a surprise inspection of Nanjundapuram's urban primary health centres under Central Zone Ward No. 62, after personally inspecting and examining the availability of vaccines, medicines, as well as records of pregnant women, mothers and children. He instructed doctors that special attention should be paid to the treatment given to pregnant women and also monitored. "It should be recorded and maintained in the relevant registers. Doctors should monitor whether the mother and child are doing well, receiving follow-up treatment and whether the financial assistance provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu is reaching beneficiaries properly. Doctors should come forward to provide quality treatment to the public in the Municipal Corporation by speaking kindly while treating patients in the urban health centres," stated the CCMC Commissioner.

Subsequently, in Kamaraj Colony, Nanjundapuram, the biodegradable waste sludge was segregated and distributed to the sanitation workers. After enquiring with the public about whether the water supply is proper and the street lights are on, and personally inspecting the public toilet in the area to see if it is being maintained in a hygienic manner, the Health Inspectors instructed the workers to maintain the hygiene in toilets and put to proper public use. The CCMC Commissioner directed the engineers to prepare a project estimate for the construction of underground sewerage in areas where it does not exist and take steps to provide the underground sewerage system after obtaining approval.

Further, a review of the water supply in the overhead water tank in Nanjundapuram area was also inspected. A new 24-hour water supply pipeline for a distance of 1.8 km is to be constructed to provide additional drinking water to the people of the area. The CCMC Commissioner ordered that the pipeline work be completed in a week's time for public use. In addition, he also directed the engineers to take necessary steps immediately to desilt and clean the garbage and the plants and vines that are overgrown in Rajavaikkal in the area and ensure uninterrupted flow of rainwater.

The Central Zone Assistant Commissioner Shankar, the Town Welfare Officer Dr. Sathish Kumar, Councillor Revathi Murali, Assistant Town Planning Officer Babu, Assistant Executive Engineers Ramasamy and Bhuvaneswari, Assistant Engineers Ganesan, Jainraj and Corporation officials were present during the inspection.
