Wild elephants rampage fair price shop in Valparai

With the movement of wild elephants on the rise in Valparai and surrounding areas, the public has requested the Forest Department to identify the movement of elephants and provide protection.


Coimbatore: Wild elephants broke into a fair price shop near Valparai and went on a rampage, causing panic among the locals.

With the movement of wild elephants on the rise in the surrounding forest areas of Valparai in Coimbatore district, seven wild elephants entered the Pannimadai Estate area near Valparai.



The elephants forayed into the residential area and damaged the fair price shop and the window panes of the estate office building.

The Forest Department had to be called to chase away the wild elephants from the area. The officials have been asked to identify the movement of the elephants and requested to provide protection to the public.
