2 cars collide head-on near Palladam; 1 killed, 7 injured

The two cars collided head-on at Perumbali near Palladam leaving Murthy, the driver of the car from Chinniampalayam, dead on the spot.


Tirupur: Davidraj, Vellimalai, Suresh and driver Murthy who were working as wedding decorators in Palladam were traveling in a car from the Chinniampalayam area of Coimbatore to Palladam on Sunday evening.

In another car, Udumalai-based Mani (55), his wife Meenakshi (51), their daughter Krithika and Krithika's two-year-old child were traveling. Both cars were involved in a head-on collision, on the Trichy National Highway near Palladam. The driver of the car, Murthy, from Chinniampalayam died on the spot.

The Palladam police rushed to the spot and immediately moved the injured to the Palladam Government Hospital for treatment. Thereafter, they were moved to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment. The Palladam police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
