Tanker truck rams into Coimbatore Madukkarai Highway toll plaza injuring employee

The employee is reported to be in a critical condition at a private hospital in Madukkarai.


Coimbatore: A cement-mixer tanker truck heading towards Kerala from Andhra Pradesh rammed into a toll booth at around 4.30 am on the Salem-Cochin National Highway.



The driver, Baiju, reportedly lost control and collided with an Eicher in front of the sleepwalk and then collided into the toll booth.



Premkumar from Madukkarai who was working at the collection center of the toll booth was seriously injured.



Those nearby rescued Premkumar immediately and sent him to a private hospital in Madukkarai.



The Madukkarai police, with the help of a Poclain machine cleared the tanker truck. Baiju, the driver, was arrested and is being interrogated.
