Lottery tickets worth Rs 36,000 confiscated in Coimbatore - Thoothukudi resident arrested!

Coimbatore: Madukkarai police have received information that lottery tickets banned in Tamil Nadu are being bought from Kerala and sold illegally in various parts of Coimbatore.

Following this, Madukkarai police led by Assistant Inspector Kuppuraj conducted a vehicle search at the Chettipalayam section of the Coimbatore-Palakkad highway. Police stopped and searched the vehicles of the suspects.



When a two-wheeler (XL Super) there was inspected, it was revealed that it contained 912 Kerala lottery tickets worth Rs 36,000. Following this, the police arrested the person who came in the vehicle and conducted an investigation.



The person arrested was Vijayan (56) from Thanvillai, Thoothukudi district. It was also revealed that he had been buying lorries from a lottery shop in the Valayaru area in Karela and regularly selling them in areas including Ganapathy and Thanneerpandhal in Coimbatore.

Following this, the police confiscated lottery tickets worth Rs 36,000 from him. He was later produced in court and remanded in custody.
