Liquor shops to be relocated to Coimbatore can be stopped if locals say no - Minister Senthil Balaji



Coimbatore: On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, the Chief Minister inaugurated an event at the Chennai General Secretariat to provide welfare assistance to the beneficiaries under the "Housing for All" scheme.

Following this, welfare assistance is being provided to the beneficiaries in various districts.



As a part of it at the Coimbatore District Collector's Office, 829 beneficiaries belonging to Coimbatore District have been offered a grant of Rs.2.10 lakh each. They also issued work orders under the Self Housing Scheme and allotment orders for flats to 11 beneficiaries.



Earlier, on behalf of the Coimbatore District Labor Welfare Department, he launched a signature campaign on the eve of Anti-Child Labor Day.



Following this, Minister Senthil Balaji called on the Chief Minister of Coimbatore today for the project. He said “An allocation of Rs.18 crore 45 lakhs has been made and work is underway to allocate it to beneficiaries in the near future. He said 45 liquor shops in Tamil Nadu had been closed during the year, adding that there were no new shops in Tamil Nadu and the relocation could be stopped if the people of the area did not want it.

In addition, 4,637 grievances have been solved out of the 8,407 grievance calls received by the Coimbatore 24 × 7 services to resolve the grievances of the people of Coimbatore, by Chepauk Assembly Member Udayanithi Stalin and steps are being taken to resolve the remaining complaints. This service will continue to operate.” When asked about the opening of the Koundampalayam flyover, he replied, "We will meet tomorrow." He also said “A case would be registered if some people opened the gates we will open it ourselves”.

Responding to a query regarding the higher fare on the Valangulam ferry ride, he said “the fare has been fixed on behalf of the tourism department and a letter will be sent on behalf of the district administration regarding the reduction of fare. And some people keep their photos in ration shops, which is a misnomer. Also, to Coimbatore district in the coming seasons will be offered historic projects by the chief minister.” Meanwhile, government orders worth Rs.6 lakh 46 thousand have been issued to another 45 beneficiaries today.



The event was attended by the Coimbatore MP PR Natarajan, the Coimbatore District Collector GS Sameeran, the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Prathap, and the Coimbatore Mayor and Deputy Mayor among others.
