Dist. Collector presents 'Pasumai Champion Award' with Rs. 1 lakh prize money to 3 individuals from Coimbatore

Thangavel from Coimbatore district, Manikandan, Founder, Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu, Balasubramanian, Principal, NGNG High School were recipients of the Award.


Coimbatore: The Government of Tamil Nadu, on behalf of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forests presented the 'Pasumai Champion Award' for outstanding contribution to environmental protection. It was announced that a prize of Rs.1 lakh rupees would also be awarded to the winners.

The award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of environmental protection and related fields. Institutions, schools and colleges, Residents' Welfare Associations and factories were notified that they were eligible to submit their applications for the award. Accordingly, 33 applications were received in Coimbatore district, till last March.

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board by the District Level Committee headed by the District Collector consider the applications and the winners are announced on a nominated basis.



Thangavel, a native of Athappagounder village in Coimbatore district, Manikandan, Founder, Kovai Kulangal Padhukappu Amaippu and Balasubramanian, the Headmaster of NGNG High School were awarded the 'Pasumai Champion Award,' along with the prize money of Rs.1 lakh by the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran.
