Police arrest grocery store owner under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting minor girl in Coimbatore

The girl had reportedly gone to the shop to buy groceries and returned home to immediately report the assault to her parents.


Coimbatore: Vasudevan (44), the owner of a grocery store in Coimbatore has been estranged from his wife for the past six years has been arrested under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl from the same area who had visited his shop on Sunday morning to buy groceries.

The Class 9 student reported the assault to her parents after returning home.

The shocked parents lodged a complaint against Vasudevan at the All-Women's police station. Based on the complaint, the police investigated and arrested Vasudevan, and also registered a case against him under the POCSO Act. He was subsequently produced before a judge and remanded in custody.
