TPDK Gen. Sec. demands case to be filed against BJP leader Annamalai under SC/ST Act

Members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam filed a complaint with the Municipal Commissioner of Coimbatore demanding action against BJP state leader Annamalai under the SC/ST Act.

Coimbatore: Highlighting the 8-year rule of the antion under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP State President Annamalai posted a message on his Twitter hnadle which read “From the pariah to a Viswaguru,” symbolising "from darkness to light."

Using this Tweet as evidence, the TPDK General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan filed a petition with the Police Department to file a case against Annamalai under the SC/ST Act.

Speaking on the issue, the TPDK General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan said, "From the Twitter post of BJP leader Annamalai, we can infer that a particular caste has been elevated from its inferior state. This implies that the particular caste he mentioned is supposed to be a lower caste and that no one wants to be part of that inferior caste.

When the BJP State President Annamalai was asked to respond to the word being used, he said the word used had a different interpretation. If he is making caste-based insinuations, then a case must be registered against him and he must be reprimanded under the SC/ST Act."
