'Central govt staffs in TN unable to converse or understand Tamil' - CITU during a protest in Coimbatore

Several Central Government offices including PF offices, Railways, Banks in TN were staffed by Hindi-speaking officers. Thus, making it very difficult for the public to communicate their needs to the officers and obtain services.



Coimbatore: As many of the Central Government staff in Tamil Nadu are unable to converse or understand Tamil language, the public are forced to face immense inconvenience to fulfil services at the respective offices, alleged members of CITU during a protest in Coimbatore, on Wednesday.

Members of the CITU led by District Secretary Krishnamurthy attempted to blockade the Workers' Provident Fund office on Balasundaram Road in Coimbatore, urging that staff with Tamil language proficiency should be recruited acros all Central Government Offices in Tamil Nadu.



Speaking to the media, Krishnamurthy, District Secretary of CITU pointed out that most of the Central Government offices including Labour Provident Fund offices, Railways, Banks in Tamil Nadu were staffed by Hindi-speaking officers and not Tamil-speaking officers. Thus, making it very difficult for the public to communicate their needs to the officers and obtain services.

Hence, Tamil-speaking officers should be appointed in Central Government offices across Tamil Nadu. A series of protests will be held across the state, if our plea goes unheard" reiterated Krishnamurthy.
