District Press Club pays tribute to Coimbatore journalist killed in Uttarakhand van accident

The Coimbatore media fraternity comprising journalists, reporters and cinematographers held lit candles, along with the Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran and paid tributes.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Press Club paid tribute to a Coimbatore journalist who died in a van accident in Uttarakhand.



On Sunday, a van carrying 14 people to Gangotri in Uttarakhand lost control and crashed into a ditch. Two people, including Karthik Madhavan (43), Special Correspondent, The Hindu, Coimbatore, died, and 13 others were injured in the accident near Kopang on the Uttarkashi-Gangotri Highway on Sunday night.



Many leaders including the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin expressed their condolences at the death of Karthik Madhavan. A tribute was paid on behalf of the Coimbatore Press Club at the Coimbatore District Collectorate. Many Coimbatore district journalists, photographers and other media personnel paid their respects to Karthik, their fellow colleague by carrying lit candles.
