Applications invited for students' hostel run by Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department

Coimbatore : The District Adi Dravidar Welfare Department has called for applications from students for admission to the hostels, and government residential schools.

Hostels for School and College students

The District Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Association runs 39 student hostels that include 3 boys, 6 girls hostel for the tribal college students, 1 hostel for ITI students, 19 boys hostel and 7 girls hostel for school students, 1 girls hostel and 2 boys hostel for students from Irular community. 

Eligibility 

According to a release inviting applications for hostel accommodation for the academic year 2019-20, the department has called for applications from students from class IV to XII for school hostels, while those pursuing under graduation, post graduation, polytechnic / ITI courses are eligible for admission to college/polytechnic / ITI hostels.

However, the annual income of the parents/guardians of the applicants should not be exceeding Rs.2 lakhs per annum. And the distance between the hostel and the educational institution should not be less than 5 kms. 

Free food, uniforms 

Apart from food and accommodation, the students will be provided with free sets of uniform, mat and blankets. 

The applicants can directly get the application forms from the respective hostel wardens or from the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department office located in the second floor of the Coimbatore District Collectorate. 

The filled in forms along with the xerox copy of Aadhar card and the first page of the bank passbook in the name of the applicant should be submitted to the respective wardens in person on or before June 20 (for school students) and July 20 for the college students.
