Firms should declare holiday on polling day: District Collector Rajamani

Coimbatore : District Election Officer and Collector K. Rajamani has warned that stern action will be taken against private firms who do not provide holiday to their employees on April 18.

Coimbatore : District Election Officer and Collector K. Rajamani has warned that stern action will be taken against private firms who do not provide holiday to their employees on April 18. 

According to a release from the District Election Officer, "All the 3070 polling booths in Coimbatore district are fully prepared for the polling day on April 18. All private firms in the constituency should should declare a paid holiday on the polling day enabling the employees to exercise their franchise. People are entitled to cast their vote, and not granting them a holiday is against the provisions of the Representation of Peoples Act."

"Those firms who violate the order will be subjected to action", the Collector apprised. 

He also added that "People working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act will be given paid leave on the polling day."
