Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran inspected the second phase training for polling officers at various centers under Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore North, and Singanallur assembly constituencies on April 15, 2026, ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Officers were advised to follow Election Commission guidelines completely.
Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran IAS conducted an inspection of the second phase training program for polling officers ahead of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly General Elections 2026, scheduled to serve in polling stations under assembly constituencies 117 Kavundampalayam, 118 Coimbatore North, and 121 Singanallur in Coimbatore district on April 15, 2026.



The training sessions were held at multiple venues across the three assembly constituencies. For Kavundampalayam constituency (117), the training was conducted at GN Mills Kongunad Arts and Science College. For Coimbatore North constituency (118), the sessions took place at Nav India and Sri Ramakrishna Arts and Science College. For Singanallur constituency (121), the training was organized at PSG College of Technology located on Avinashi Road, Peelamedu.


The comprehensive training program covered polling officers including Presiding Officers, Polling Officer 1, Polling Officer 2, and Polling Officer 3 who will be deployed at polling stations under these constituencies. Commissioner Sivaguru Prabhakaran personally visited each training center, observed the proceedings, and advised the officers undergoing training to completely adhere to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.


During his inspection, the Commissioner also reviewed the arrangements made for postal ballot facilities for officers engaged in election duty. This facility enables election officials to cast their votes through postal ballot while being deployed on election duties.


The inspection was attended by several officials including Returning Officer/Revenue Divisional Officer (North) Vinothkumar, Returning Officer/Special Deputy Collector (General Administration) Vanilakshmi Jegathambal, Project Director (Women's Scheme) Madhura, Coimbatore North Tahsildar Vijayaranga Pandiyan, Returning Officer/Assistant Commissioner Dakshinamoorthy, Assistant Commissioners Shanmugam, and Narmada, along with many others.
The training program forms part of the elaborate preparations being undertaken by the district administration to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the upcoming assembly elections in 2026.
