Coimbatore: Officials said the new procedure where voters will be able to download their ID cards from the website from the 25th. The general public is applying for voter id at the district collectorate and Tahsildhar's offices, special camps and online.

Voter ID card is issued to the applicants after verifying the applications on behalf of the Revenue Department to obtain the new voter ID card. New applicants will be able to download voter ID cards online like downloading Aadhar cards. Electoral officials say the practice will be introduced nationwide on January 25, National Voters' Day.

Election officials said, "In the first phase, after the publication of the draft voter list in Coimbatore, applicants can download the new voter ID card online after January 25. Voters can also download the ID card using the phone number, registration number and date of birth provided at the time of registration."
