An express train with modern facilities to run from Arakkonam to Salem!

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only reserved passengers are allowed to travel.


Coimbatore: Since the lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic, trains have been running only on selected routes which connect major cities.

With the unlock happening across the nation due to Covid-19 pandemic, Indian railways department has decided to increase the numbers of active trains in the country.

As a part of this, a special train is now open from Arakkonam to Salem.The train which begins its first journey from today (6th January) is said to run on all weekdays.

This special train starts from Arakkonam at 5.15 AM and reaches Salem at 10.50 AM. The train runs from Arakkonam via Gudiyatham, Ambur, Bommidi to Salem.

This Arakkonam to Salem special train is said to run using electric power. The rain is said to have consumed 3times less power than the original power consumption.

A fare of rupees 585 is collected to travel in first class and a fare of rupees 115 is said to be collected for the second class.

The train is said to run at a speed of 110 km is also said to have special features like GPS tracking, modern toilet and a continuous arrangement of coaches. This train has a seating capacity of 55 along with 171 standees.
