Kavundampalayam flyover works: Diversion notice for buses from today
Coimbatore: Diversion notice for buses has been announced from today as the Kavundampalayam flyover work is being carried out. The route map of the diversion has been published on behalf of the State Transport Corporation, Coimbatore.
Construction of 1.20 km long and 17.20 m wide flyover at a cost of Rs. 66 crore from Housing Unit to Ramasamy Wedding Hall at Mettupalayam Road, Coimbatore and construction of 0.60 km long and 17.20 km wide flyover at GN mills junction at a cost of Rs. 41.88 crore was started in March last year. Due to the flyover works, traffic congestion on Mettupalayam Road was unavoidable in the morning and evening. District Collector Rajamani said that due to the flyover work from today, buses will be diverted on the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam road.
Accordingly, a map of the new route was released on behalf of the State Transport Corporation Coimbatore. Suburban buses from Gandhipuram to Mettupalayam via Kavundampalayam and Thudiyalur will be diverted to Mettupalayam via Gandhipuram, TVS nagar, Government ITI College, Velandipalayam, Kanuvai and from there to Mettupalayam. Suburban buses from Mettupalayam to Gandhipuram via Thudiyalur and Kavundampalayam have been diverted from Mettupalayam to Maniyakaranpalayam via Sathy Road and Ganapathy.
Similarly, city buses going to Ukkadam, Railway Station, Gandhipuram, Sivananda Colony, Saibaba Temple, Housing Unit, Kavundampalayam, Cheran Nagar, Gounder Mill, Thudiyalur via Vellakinar Pirivu, Ukkadam, Railway Station, Gandhipuram, Sivananda Colony, Saibaba Colony buses to Thudiyalur will be diverted from Thudiyalur to Ukkadam via Velandipalayam, TVS Nagar, Kasinanjakavundanpudur pirivu, Gounder Mill, Vellakkinar pirivu will have their routes changed.
