Do not be fooled by fraudulent individuals who ask for ATM details: Railway administration


Coimbatore: Southern Railway administration has warned not to be fooled by fraudsters asking for bank details to receive refund for cancelled train tickets booked on the website. More than 3,400 trains across the country have been suspended since the 25th of Marchmonth due to the lockdown. Only special trains have been running since September 7. Tickets are being refunded online to those who have booked online to travel by train during the lockdown. Also special centers have been set up on June 3at the respective railway stations where bookings have been made and cancellation fee is being refunded.

The Southern Railway administration has warned not to disclose bank details, including ATM card passwords, to people who act as railway officials and contact them by phone. The Southern Railway official said, "Ticket cancellation fees are credited directly to the bank accounts for which passengers book their tickets online. It has been reported to the railway administration that some passengers claiming to be railway officials ask for debit, credit card numbers, CVV numbers, OTP, ATM password, pan card, date of birth and bank details. We hereby warn you not to divulge the details to persons requesting these details, including confidential numbers for their bank and money transfers. In case of receiving such calls passengers can lodge complaints by calling 138."
