Coimbatore: With extended lockdown in place, the District Collector K Rajamani, on Tuesday, announced that walking, jogging and all other physical exercise activities are banned in Race Course, Coimbatore.

After a spurt in COVID-19 cases in Coimbatore, the Collector has issued a stern announcement that no one will be permitted to use the tracks in Race Course, until further notice.

Just recently, after the lockdown norms were relaxed, thousands thronged the famed tracks of the Race Course area to resume their exercises, every morning and evening.

Wearing a desolate look from end of March when the lockdown was instituted up until mid-May, the tracks of Race Course were overcrowded with exercise aficionados once the curfew was relaxed.

Perceiving the difficulties in maintaining social distancing at the tracks, the Collector has banned all exercise at Race Course, until further notice
