Coimbatore: Government has announced Rs.2000 relief for unorganised workers. This relief can be applied for by all the ID card-carrying unorganised workers registered with the welfare board. Over 60 kinds of unorganised workers have been recognised by the government for this scheme.

Which unorganized workers shall benefit from the scheme?

Housemaids, cobblers, goldsmiths, handicraft workers, handloom and power loom weavers, hairdressers, launderers, palm tree workers, and auto drivers among others.

How to join as a new member in the Welfare Board?

The applicant should submit the filled application forms with 2 PP photographs at the Office of the Assistant Social Welfare Commissioner and get the application reference number. A proof of employment obtained from the employer, registered leaser, VAO or from the District Welfare Board office should be attached along with age proof, address proof, bank passbook with account number and smart card or ration card. It should be noted that the membership should be renewed once in 5 years.

How to apply for the Rs. 2000 relief fund?

Photocopies of Welfare Board membership, Aadhar card, voter's ID or driving license, bank passbook and smart card or ration card should be submitted at the District Welfare Board Office. After verification of these documents, Rs.2000 will be credited to the respective bank account.
