Southern Railway to run aggregated parcel van special trains from Coimbatore

Coimbatore: In the wake of COVID-19, the Southern Railway offers its unhindered services for nationwide transportation of essential commodities like foodgrains, coal for powerhouses etc through wagons, according to a release.

Coimbatore: In the wake of COVID-19, the Southern Railway offers its unhindered services for nationwide transportation of essential commodities like foodgrains, coal for powerhouses etc through wagons, according to a release. 

Harikrishnan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Salem has informed that now with special reference to movemenrt of medicines, medical equipments, masks etc railway parcel vans are available for the only mass quick transportation across the nation for the needy customers including State governments. 

The services will be run as per extant rules and on payment of parcel/freight charges. It may be noted that a minimum of 15 parcel vans needs to be aggregated in groups /individually to run the said services (each VP capacity is 23 tonnes). 

Apart from the above, any other origin - destination points are also welcome for inquiry and registration. 

The following are the aggregated parcel vans trains ready to be operational:

1. Coimbatore-Patel Nagar (Delhi region) - Coimbatore. 

2. Coimbatore - Rajkot- Coimbatore. 

3. Coimbatore - Jaipur- Coimbatore.

4. Salem - Batinda.
