The Nilgiris: Following the fatal drowning of two youth in the Kallatti water falls, the Nilgris District Administration on Monday has announced to close down the waterfall area for tourism.

The falls, which is on the way to Masinagudi from Ooty, has been witnessing too many accidents in the past. Frequent accidents have forced the local residents to press for the closure of the area.

Though the facility was temporarily closed, it was again opened during which two youth drowned to their graves, a week ago.

The facility was finally closed on Monday and the path leading to the waterfalls was also blocked with barricades and warning signs.

The Nilgiris District administration has warned people to not enter the restricted area and have said that heavy fine and stern actions would be taken against perpetrators.
