Coimbatore : The Forest Department has announced that the Baralikadu Eco-Tourism has been cancelled due to excess water released from Pillur Dam.

Situated amidst the dense mountainous region of the picturesque Pillur Dam, the eco-tourism at Baralikadu attracts a large number of tourists not only from Tamil Nadu but also from neighbouring state Kerala. The tourism here is booked online through the Forest Department website and is held during the weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

As coracle ride in the river is regarded to be highlight of the tourism in Baralikadu, the heavy rains in the catchment area of Pillur and gushing waters in the Bhavani river has forced the forest department to close down the operations for a temporary period.

With an inflow 14,000 cubic feet of water, the Baralikadu eco-tourism spot is flooded with water. Hence, keeping in mind the safety of the tourists the forest department has cancelled eco-tourism, this weekend.
