CCMC bans sale of meat on Oct 2 to mark Gandhi Jayanthi

Coimbatore: CCMC ordered a ban on the sale of goat meat, chicken and beef in the city on October 2, 2019 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.

Coimbatore: CCMC ordered a ban on the sale of goat meat, chicken and beef in the city on October 2, 2019 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi. 

Every year, October 2 being the birthday of the Father of Our Nation is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanthi, nationwide. On this day, liquor or meat is not sold. The CCMC Commissioner and Special Officer, Sravan Kumar Jatavath has issued an order that meat shops under the CCMC limits should remain closed on October 2, 2019.

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, the CCMC administration has also issued an order that animals will not be slaughtered on October 2 and none of the meat shops under Corporation limits will be functional. The meat stalls serving under CCMC such as the Ukkadam goat stall, Singanallur goat stall, Sathy road and Podanur beef stalls, Thudiyalur goat stall and ten other meat stalls will not be functioning on October 2.

The CCMC Commissioner and Special Officer Sravan Kumar Jatavath also stated that anyone found violating this order and sell meat on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi would be subjected to stringent action by the Corporation Officials.
