Southern Railway announces special weekend train from MTP to Ooty from October 5

The Nilgiris : As the second season in the Nilgiris is nearing, the southern railways have announced two special trains from Mettupalayam (MTP) to Ooty from October 5 to December 28, 2019 to be operated only on weekends.

The Nilgiris : As the second season in the Nilgiris is nearing, the southern railways have announced two special trains from Mettupalayam (MTP) to Ooty from October 5 to December 28, 2019 to be operated only on weekends.

In a statement released by Salem Southern Railway, it was announced based on appeals from the tourists to add a new train during season times, the Southern Railway have decided to run a special mountain train from Mettupalayam to Ooty on Saturdays and Sundays from October 5 to December 28.



This special train will leave MTP at 09.10 am and will stop at Kallar from 09.28 to 09.35 am, later at Hilkgrove from 10.46 am to 11.00 am. The train has four compartments with 72 seats and 100 seats in the first class and second class, respectively.

The ticket fare is Rs. 1,100 and Rs. 800 for the first and the second class. Similarly, the ticket fare from Mettupalayam to Ooty is Rs 1,450 for first-class and Rs 1,050 for the second class, Rs. 550 for the first class and Rs. 450 for the second class from Ooty to Coonoor. 



Apart from this, the southern railways have decided to offer Rs 200 worth gift vouchers for the passengers.

The implementation of additional special mountain train for the second season has brought much excitement among the train travellers to the blue mountains.
