To attain and encourage girls' education, the University Grants Commission, established the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child (SJSGC).

Coimbatore: Emphasising that educating women is the most effective form of women empowerment, the Government of India has taken several initiatives to improve the status of women, including providing scholarships to girls aspiring for higher education.

To attain and encourage girls' education, the University Grants Commission, established the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child (SJSGC). SJSGC is a Fellowship Scheme for pursuing studies culminating in a Ph.D. degree. This scheme's target demographic is the "single girl child" or the sole girl child in the household who does not have a sibling. The number of fellowship seats will be determined each year based on qualified applications that are complete in every regard and are published electronically.
