'White Coat Ceremony' for freshers held at PSG IMSR
Coimbatore : A ‘White Coat Ceremony’ was organised on Saturday at the PSG Institite of Medical Sciences and Research (PSGIMSR) in the city in which 150 freshers who had enrolled for medical courses were presented with white coat.
The students were administered the traditional 'Hippocratic Oath', pledging allegiance to the medical profession, and their duty towards the patients.
"While wearing this white coat, students should remember their responsibility towards their profession. You should learn to be a good human beings and develop service mindedness in your profession" said Dr. S Ramalingam, Dean PSG IMSR.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. R V Ramani, Managing Trustee, Sankara eye Foundation threw light on the qualities of a good doctor.
"Along with knowledge, students should focus on their physical health too. As this is the right age to build your physical health, spend more time in sports or other physical activities to keep your mind and body healthy and strong", he added.
He further advised the students to work hard towards their goal to reach heights in their lives.
"Patience is very important in medical profession. Hence, budding doctors should learn to control your anger and develop patience to be a good doctor and good human as well." he told the freshers.
Later, he presented white coats to 150 freshers of the college and wished them success.
