Coimbatore Corporation to Revamp Wells, Rainwater Harvesting Structures at Rs 21 Lakh

Coimbatore: With the focus on strengthening rainwater harvesting infrastructure, the Coimbatore Corporation is carrying out works to revamp wells and rainwater harvesting structures across parts of the East Zone at a total estimated cost of Rs 21 lakh.

Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja inspected the works on October 3. The inspection covered revamped and ongoing infrastructure works in different parts of Ondipudur.

In Ward 56, works at Nanjappa Chettiar Street were taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 11 lakh, while works in the Nesavalar Colony area of Ward 57 were undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 8 lakh. The Commissioner inspected the revamped wells and rainwater harvesting structures at both locations.

He subsequently inspected the work to revamp a well and rainwater harvesting infrastructure at Nagaiyan Thottam in Ward 56, where the work has been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 2 lakh.

The works across these locations, costing a total of Rs 21 lakh, are aimed at strengthening existing well and rainwater harvesting infrastructure in the East Zone.

East Zone Assistant Commissioner Dakshinamurthy, Assistant Executive Engineer Ilangovan (in-charge), Zonal Health Officer Chandran and other Corporation officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
