Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 43.87 Feet, Thirumoorthy at 35.02 Feet

The water level in Amaravathi Dam in Tirupur district has risen to 43.87 feet due to continuous rainfall. Thirumoorthy Dam's water level stands at 35.02 feet. Water Resources Department officials report steady inflow to both dams with continuous monitoring in place.


Tirupur: The water levels in Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams located in Tirupur district have been steadily rising due to continuous rainfall, according to Water Resources Department officials.

The Amaravathi Dam in Tirupur district has a maximum storage capacity of 90 feet. Due to continuous water inflow from the catchment areas, the water level has risen to 43.87 feet as of August 7, today.

The dam is currently receiving an inflow of 907 cubic feet per second. Water Resources Department officials have stated that no water is being released from the dam at present.

The Thirumoorthy Dam, located near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district, has a storage capacity of 60 feet. With continuous inflow from its catchment areas, the water level stands at 35.02 feet as of August 7, today.

Water Resources Department officials informed that the inflow to Thirumoorthy Dam is currently low, and 21 cubic feet per second of water is being released from the dam.

Officials stated that the water levels in both dams are being continuously monitored, and if the rainfall continues, the water levels are expected to rise further. This development brings relief to farmers and residents dependent on these water resources for irrigation and domestic needs.
