A Sub-Inspector and a Head Constable attached to Pollachi East Police Station have been suspended after an audio recording allegedly linked to a ₹5,000 bribery complaint surfaced online, prompting a departmental inquiry.

Coimbatore: A Sub-Inspector and a Head Constable attached to Pollachi East Police Station have been placed under suspension after an audio recording allegedly linked to a ₹5,000 bribery complaint surfaced and went viral on social media.

According to police sources, Sub-Inspector Johnson allegedly accepted a ₹5,000 bribe from Mukesh, who had appeared before the police for an inquiry in connection with a complaint related to an alleged illicit relationship. It is alleged that after others at the police station became aware of the payment, attempts were made to return the money.

Police said Head Constable Nagarajan allegedly contacted Mukesh over the phone and requested him to collect the money back. The audio recording of their conversation later surfaced online and has since gone viral.

In the audio clip, Nagarajan is allegedly heard urging Mukesh to take back the money, while Mukesh reportedly says that he does not want the money and only wants to be relieved from the case without further harassment.

Following the circulation of the audio recording, Superintendent of Police K. Pavan Kumar placed both Sub-Inspector Johnson and Head Constable Nagarajan under suspension. A departmental inquiry into the allegations is currently under way.
