TANGEDCO Issues Advisory on TV Cable Disconnection During Rainy Season in Coimbatore

TANGEDCO instructs Coimbatore residents to disconnect TV cables during thunderstorms and avoid standing near electrical installations in the rainy season to prevent accidents.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has issued an advisory today (Oct. 10) urging the public to exercise caution during the rainy season to prevent electrical accidents.

The advisory emphasizes the importance of staying away from transformers, electric poles, distribution boxes, and power lines during rainy weather. Citizens are advised to avoid standing or walking in waterlogged areas. During thunderstorms, people should keep away from open windows and doors.

TANGEDCO recommends seeking shelter in low-lying areas away from electric wires, poles, trees, and metal fences during rain. When thunder strikes, it is crucial to disconnect TV cable connections and avoid touching cable TV wires. The advisory strictly warns against hanging clothes on electric poles or guy wires used for supporting them.

If an electric wire is found broken, the public is instructed not to touch or step on it but to immediately inform TANGEDCO officials. In case of power outages, complaints can be registered by calling 94987-94987.

Kuppu Rani, the Chief Engineer of TANGEDCO's Coimbatore region, issued these guidelines to ensure public safety during the monsoon season. The corporation emphasizes that following these precautions can significantly reduce the risk of electrical accidents during rainy weather.
