At that time, the highways department officials requested the collector to acquire land at VOC ground, Anna Silai, Nava India, Hope College and SITRA areas where the ramps are to be constructed.

According to state highways department officials, 42 per cent of the avinashi road flyover work has been completed. An overhead runway has been constructed between 80 pillars. So far, Rs 481 crore has been spent.

In order for the public to cross the road without any difficulty, the underpass will be constructed in five areas - Krishnammal College, KMCH, Hospital, GRG, School, PSG College and Lakshmi Mill Junction. On both sides of the bridge, a 1.5-metre-wide drain with a footpath will be constructed, they said.
