Coimbatore–Jabalpur Weekly Special Train Regularised as Weekly Express; New Timings Announced

Coimbatore: Southern Railway has regularised the weekly special train service between Coimbatore and Jabalpur, converting it into a permanent Weekly Express service, with the trains now operating as the Coimbatore–Jabalpur Weekly Express and Jabalpur–Coimbatore Weekly Express.

The services, previously operated as Train Nos. 02197 and 02198, have been renumbered as Train Nos. 20159 and 20160, respectively.

According to Southern Railway's Salem Division, Train No. 20160, the Jabalpur–Coimbatore Weekly Express, departs Jabalpur Junction at 11.50 pm on Fridays, effective October 23, 2026, and arrives at Coimbatore Junction at 5.10 pm on Sundays.

In the return direction, Train No. 20159, the Coimbatore–Jabalpur Weekly Express, departs Coimbatore Junction at 5.05 pm on Mondays, effective October 26, 2026, and reaches Jabalpur Junction at 8.45 am on Wednesdays.

The trains operate via Palakkad, Mangaluru, Madgaon and Itarsi, connecting several stations across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The Jabalpur–Coimbatore service stops at Narsinghpur, Gadarwara, Pipariya, Itarsi Junction, Harda, Khandwa Junction, Bhusaval Junction, Nasik Road, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Kudal, Thivim, Madgaon Junction, Karwar, Kumta, Mookambika Road Byndoor, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki, Mangaluru Junction, Kasaragod, Kannur, Vadakara, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur Junction and Palakkad Junction before reaching Coimbatore.

The Coimbatore–Jabalpur service covers the same route in the reverse direction, with scheduled stops at the stations listed above.

The trains comprise AC First Class, AC Two-Tier, AC Three-Tier, Sleeper Class and General Second Class coaches, along with a luggage-cum-brake van that includes accommodation for persons with disabilities.

The regularisation of the weekly special services as weekly express trains formalises the operation of this long-distance rail connection between Coimbatore and Jabalpur.
