Tiananmen Square
Located at the center of Beijing City and the midpoint of Chang'an Avenue is the remarkable Tiananmen Square, where you can visit the Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and see the national flag raising ceremony. Thousands of people come to the Square every day. It is the must place to visit in Beijing City.
The present square has an area of 440,000 square meters and has become a relaxing place for the common people to fly kites and walk.
Despite the enormous size, Tiananmen Square is actually not the largest public square in the world as many claim. It isn't even the largest in China! Xinghai Square, located in the Chinese city of Dalian, claims the title with over 1.1 million square meters — four times the size of Tiananmen Square.
