After a long resting day, the XPD team left from Xi'an early, as they wanted to tour around Pingyao in one day and reach Beijing the next day.
Compared to Xi'an, the drive to Pingyao was much easy, says the team. They reached Pingyao by 3 pm. As the hotel they had planned to stay could not accommodate parking, they have to park the vehicles outside and used electric buggies facility arranged to pick people to the hotel.

'The team walked the streets of this ancient town to witness men and women dressed in their silks and finery, drinking tea and living the very affluent lifestyle that Pingyao is known for. The magnificent city walls that date from 1370 are 10 mts high and more than 6 km in circumference.

The walls are punctuated by 72 watchtowers; each embarked with details from Sunzi's The Art of War", details Meenakshi.

Later, the team headed towards a couple of temples and the Ancient Government Office. After a beautiful sight seeing of the ancient city, the team is all set to head towards Beijing on Day 27, and have plans of leaving Pingyao early in the morning.
About City of Pingyao
Pingyao Ancient City, is a settlement in central Shanxi, China, famed for its importance in Chinese economic history and for its well-preserved Ming and Qing urban planning and architecture.
Píngyáo has managed to keep its beguiling narrative largely intact: red-lantern–hung lanes set against night-time silhouettes of imposing town walls, elegant courtyard architecture, ancient towers poking into the north China sky, and an entire brood of creaking temples and old buildings.
Píngyáo is also a living and breathing community where the 30,000-odd locals who reside in the old town hang laundry in courtyards, carry down alleyways on bicycles, sun themselves in doorways or chew the fat with neighbours.
