Team XPD covers 282 km from Gyirong to Tingri on Day 14!

The team felt enchanted when they reached TIBET and enjoyed the 'The rooftop of the world'. Though the team was supposed to leave by 8.30 am, but having bad hotels and no showers for the past two days in Nepal left them to linger a bit and were only able to leave only at 9 after breakfast at a Nepalese restaurant right opposite to the hotel.

The team resumed their journey and drove out of the town towards the mountains, and the roads were fabulous. The mountains were lush, and they could see snow-capped peaks as well, and the views were spectacular.

After reaching for about 14,000 ft above MSL, the terrain changed, and it felt like a magic for the team to see how the landscapes changed so drastically and quickly.

The team witnessed the shades of brown and ochre, stunning beautiful rock formations with rivers and streams everywhere and the beauty in the starkness. The team had a number of picture stops and bio breaks such as Diamox, as they used to prevent and reduce the symptoms of altitude sickness.

This medication can decrease headache, tiredness, nausea, dizziness and shortness of breath that can occur when a person climbs quickly to high altitudes.

The team reached Gong Tang Lau pass the highest point for the day which was 5248 Mts and descended to about 15000 ft quickly where they stopped at the Pei gu lake. There was not much of civilization along with the way, but their guide managed to get them some hot water from a small eatery for them. The team enjoyed driving these roads thoroughly till they reached Tingri.

Tingri is a small one-street village with dilapidated homes and buildings. They had a glance at the peak of Mt Everest at a distance. The team then filled up the diesel before checking in to a fundamental Guest house sort of place. The team constantly monitor their oxygen levels and stay dehydrated. The team is all set to drive to the Everest base camp tomorrow depending upon the weather.
