Day 57 of the expedition began with a little exploration of the charming old town centre, Kosice.
Kosice is not only the centre of eastern Slovakia but also the core of the Eastern Carpathians where several ethnicities live.

The most dominant feature of the square and the town is the monumental Gothic Cathedral of St. Elisabeth. This building is rather isolated from the rest of the square and is the largest church of Slovakia. A good stroll in this beautiful square and the team was ready to leave to Budapest .

A quick easy drive and they made it to Budapest early in the evening. Not having much time, they needed to cram in as much as possible in the half a day they had in this magnificent city.

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is bisected by the River Danube. Its 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district with flat Pest.
After visiting the parliament building, Chain Bridge and the Buda Castle they had dinner at a real swanky restaurant named Spoon located on the river, Danube. The weather was very pleasant, making the experience all the more enjoyable.

An hour's cruise was the perfect way to end this beautiful day!
