XPD 2470 Day 54: Warsaw - the team crosses another milestone

Waking up at the break of dawn is not the most pleasant of things, especially when you are always on the run, meeting people and sightseeing among so many other things. With so much to do at any point in time, the team was now sleep-deprived and fatigued. Waking up at 5 am to be at the television studio by 6 was slightly draining, but the TV program itself turned out to be quite an experience.

It was and very popular state level breakfast TV show. It was a rather quick and spontaneous programme. The team was back at the hotel by 7.15 am. Breakfast was to be at Ambassador Mr.Pankaj Saxena 's. Mr Saxena and his lovely wife Richa, so warmly welcomed them into their more beautiful home and fed them a fantastic Indian Breakfast. The conversation kept following but they did have a border to cross.

The Belarus-Poland border is almost 300 kms from Minsk. They had departed only around 10.30 from His Excellency's residence. Reaching the border town of Brest, they had to return our Toll device the OBU before we exit the country.

They were already warmed by the Embassy Staff that this a very busy border and it will take about 6 hrs to exit, but the crowd they saw were unbelievable. People there told us that it might take up to 8 hrs to exit Belarus only.

Then, they decided to march up to one of the officers and explain their mission. He, in turn, took them to another higher official. They even dialled Yuri to explain this situation.

On getting clearance from the higher official, they were quickly taken to the front of the line and got passports stamped.

The Polish officers were not as accommodative of our stretched schedule. They stayed in line at the border for 2 and a half hours before they got a chance to show them their papers.

Afte driving for another 100 kms to Warsaw, they reached the hotel exactly at 10 pm. As they reached, Mr.Gopal and his wife Magda from Tirupur, who lives here were waiting to take them out.

After a short stop for refreshing themselves, they were taken to an Indian restaurant named Buddha.

The Dal, Roti and Biriyani were delectable.

They were back in the hotel around 1:30 am, and were quick to catch up on some beauty sleep before another busy day tomorrow.
