At first, when the team decided to go to Belarus, they were begged not to go and at times even threatened that they will be harassed and turned back at the border. At one point they even considered changing their route this country, but fortunately, they stuck to the original plan and nothing untoward has happened. Belarus is an exceptionally beautiful city with extremely accommodative people.

The team went sightseeing for a couple of hours with their guide, Yulia, who had packed in quite a few sights including Island of tears, Church of Saints Simon and Helena, Independent Square and Victory Square.

Amidst sightseeing, they got a call from the Indian Embassy saying that they are sending a local TV News Channel at the Independence Square for a quick interview. They promptly arrived and the ambassador's interpreter was also with them so that she could translate what the team had to say.

Next, they had to go to the Indian Embassy to meet His Excellency Mr. Pankaj Saxena. The members of the Rotary club of Belarus were also invited for tea at the Embassy. Mr Saxena was so welcoming that the team felt very much at comfort. They had the great opportunity to talk to the Ambassador about our Rotary India Literacy Mission.

After this, Yuri and Alexi had very sweetly offered to take us to watch Vitaut, a Ballet at The National Academic Grand Opera and Ballet Theatre. The ballet performance was about a noble person Vitaut, whose love story took the center stage. The performance was stunning and took their breaths away.

Minsk is popularly known for its Ballet and watching it in person was indeed an other world experience that has etched its nook in the most beauriful memories of the team.
