Coimbatore : Karpagam University bags overall championship in the district-level Silambam championship, organised by the Coimbatore District Amateur Silambam Association in the outskirts of the city, on Sunday.
Karpagam University won the title, standing tall in the table with 128 points. With 109 points in the table, Ilam Thalir Silamba Koodam secured second place in the overall ranking of the tournament. More than 120 participants from Karpagam University, Ilam Thalir Silamba Koodam, Bothidharma Gurukkulam, Indian Silambam Academy international, Anuman Silambalaya and, various schools and colleges participated and showcased their skills.
The championship was conducted under various categories - Mini Sub Juniors (below 10 years), Sub Juniors (11-14 years), Juniors (15-18 years) and Seniors (above 18 years). N Moorthy, Secretary AMMK, Kalapatti region, along with M Muniasamy, Chief Coach at the Indian Silambam Academy International, presented the awards to the winners.
